Tomb Of Ibn-e-Haroon

The tomb of Mohammed bin Haroon, a Muslim General of the 8th century, is situated in a graveyard of Bela town. It was built sometimes around 11th century. He made his marks on the Makran Coast and then proceded along with Mohammad bin Qasim who was sent by Governor Hajjaj bin Yousuf.

Muhammad Bin Qasim was first arrived in Makran, where he was welcomed by Muhammad Bin Haroon but later they set out together in the direction of Armanbela (BELA). Due to illness and bad health he could not joined the army of Mohammad bin Qasim and died in Bella where his tomb is situated.

The tomb is square in plan and built in fairface brickwork. The tomb is most ornate at the parapet level where dentil, zigzag and zangira patern beside triangular formation of bricks. The tomb has project mihrab. In the interior the squinch arches convert the plan into an octagon which support a point dome. The tomb is one of the earliest in Bela.

Arabic Translation:
1) O God! Forgive al Hasan ibn Amir Sahl ibn Umar ibn Abdul Aziz Al Hasan ibn al Husain. Written on Sunday when eleven days were remaining of the sacred month of Muharram. And he wrote it in his own hand, in the year 406 (H.).
2) (Built by) Abu Musa Ruka/ibn Muhammad Al-Masudi in the year 351 (H.).
3) Umar Asan, Danku, repeated the takbir for seventeen years (and) died.
4) Abi Sahl Abul Kasim Amr (and?) Ahmad ibn Amr ibn Sahl. He wrote it with his own hand.
Persian Translation:
“In the name of God the compassionate and merciful. Know, that at this time the king of Kech is Shah Mir Zehri Hussain [engraved by Ali (not legible). Know chat I am a mu Ila of the people of Islam]. “Know, and remember (not legible) that this threshold (astana) has existed for many years before out time, so many that we cannot count them (not legible). “Ye, chat succeed us, set not your heart on the world and slacken not in your efforts in the worship of God and adopting the faith of Mehdi. Know, that we were 24 persons (who are buried here).”
